DEMONSTRATION TEAM NEWS

Prince Michael of Kent Lodge No. 9120

After a recent study carried out under the Middlesex Province New Horizons Initiative identified that new members of the Craft could benefit from some further explanation of what they had experienced during their Initiation, The Prince Michael of Kent Lodge Demonstration Team were tasked to demonstrate the Ceremony of Initiation.

On Tuesday 6th May 2008 the team performed the first of what will now be a twice yearly event by holding a Lodge of Instruction evening at Cole court which was attended by 76 brethren.

This however, was not an ordinary Lodge of Instruction. After an introduction on the purpose of the evening by W.Bro Clive Pigram PSGD, APGM, a brief explanation of how our ceremonies came to exist as we now know them was given by the orator for the evening, W.Bro Richard Lewin.

The Lodge was opened in the First Degree and the candidate was admitted, W.Bro Erle Beale then gave an explanation of the Mode of Preparation of an Entered Apprentice. The ceremony continued with the candidate pausing every now and then for a further explanation of some aspect of the ceremony from W.Bro Richard.

When it came to the part where the Candidate is clothed with the Badge of an Entered Apprentice Freemason,
W.Bro Arthur Foster-Mason gave a very moving explanation of the Apron.

After the candidate had retired, clothed himself again and re-entered, W.Bro Garry Foley gave the Charge to the Initiate and the evening ended with an excellent rendition of the First Degree Tracing Board by W.Bro Alan Gaynor.

The next evening is to be on Monday 29th September 2008 at Harrow Masonic Centre starting promptly at 7pm. Although the Team will be in Regalia, those wishing to watch the Demonstration are asked only to be in smart casual wear and the only part of the ceremony requiring participation will be the opening and closing Tea and Biscuits will be provided on the night.

Additional information on the Demonstration Team can be found on the Lodge website at www.pmklodge.co.uk or by contacting the Team co-ordinator, W.Bro Steve Heynes on 07971 791272
